If you are familiar with online shopping, you know that most websites require a registration to get onto their sites. This helps the site's owner to keep track of who is visiting his or her website, and it also helps them gather data about where their visitors are coming from. One problem with this, however, is that many sites do not want to provide their users with a free trial version of their software. In fact, some of the websites that offer free trials on their software will also require that you pay for your software after you have downloaded it.
That's what happened when SmartSniff, a browser hijacker was released. SmartSniff installed itself on a Windows computer and then installed itself onto every Internet Explorer window in the computer's address bar. When a Windows user visited a website, SmartSniff opened the website and sent all the information it collected back to the creator of the malicious program. The creator used this information to collect names, addresses, email addresses, credit card numbers, and even passwords.
SmartSniff was designed to allow its creators to conduct large scale web spyware attacks, but the makers of the program didn't give out the program for free. Instead, they offered it for free on their website, but at a cost of $49.99 after the installation process. There are various ways to get rid of the SmartSniff virus. One way is to use a program that will check a web page for common signs of the hijacker, and then prevent the computer from visiting those websites. Another way is to download and install a program called SmartSniff Remover, which will remove the hijacker from your computer.
